The Mumbai Civic Body, BMC, will inspect the malls across the city to check the fire fighting capabilities and systems and will conduct mock drills. This decision came after there was a major blaze in the City Centre mall which took three days to douse the flame.
The Mumbai Civic Body will inspect the malls for one month on a top priority. The inspecting teams will include officials from the fire brigade department and also from the local licensing department.
The BMC will make sure if all malls have functional fire fighting capabilities and systems on the ground level. Protocols for other incidents such as any hazardous collapse or stampede will also be checked.
