Badami The capital of Chalukya Kingdom. Formerly known as Vatapi, is a town and headquarters of a taluk by the same name, in the Bagalkot district of Karnataka, India. Aihole, an ancient temple town. Aihole is smaller as well, but features very unique Hindu and Jain temples. One such temple is the Vishnu temple which is often mistakenly called the ‘Durga temple’. It has curved walls unlike the usual architectural trends of its time. There are a few other temples in the Aihole complex. However, many more smaller shrines and royal structures lay scattered around the Aihole village.
