The Guardian’s Amanda Meade “made up an entire story” and spread fake news claiming no one could watch the recent leaders’ debate for free, says Sky News Digital Editor Jack Houghton.
Mr Houghton said the claims made by Ms Meade were “completely false” and that she is “pathetic” for failing to correct the record and allowing misinformation to spread.
The leaders’ debate hosted by Sky News Australia and The Courier-Mail ran on Wednesday evening and broke a network broadcasting record as the most-watched Sky News People’s Forum event ever.
The debate was available to be watched for free on the Sky News Australia website and Facebook page.
Mr Houghton said Lenore Taylor, The Guardian Australia's Editor, should “be ashamed of herself” for allowing publishing standards to become so poor.
