By placing cameras at the scene the judge and jury can see the scene with accurate circumstances of the accident such as lighting, traffic, and the placement of cars during the accident.

As a video forensic expert, I am often asked to record videos at the scene of an accident so the circumstances of the accident can be viewed in the courtroom. I like to refer to this as bringing the scene of the accident into the courtroom.

We are not fans of demonstrative evidence because, in accident reconstruction, demonstrative evidence is usually animated, cartoon-like drawings of the components involved at the scene. It is very difficult to show the events as they occurred without a civil engineer, and this type of accident reconstruction can be very costly. Additionally, this demonstrative evidence animation may be argued out and not used at all.
