August 1961 family footage documenting travel, home life, and gatherings in Northern California and Southern California.

Locations and scenes include San Francisco (Candlestick Park, Fisherman’s Wharf, Alcatraz Island, Golden Gate Bridge, Bay Bridge), Chico (including the Hooker Oak and an old swimming hole), and South El Monte, California.

Family scenes include Larry Duane Mumea as a teenager lifting weights in the front yard with friends, wrestling with friends, an 8th-grade graduation, family dinners, backyard scenes with grandparents and great-grandparents, and everyday life around the family home. Also included are scenes of the family ’56 Chevy, later Larry’s first car.

Names, locations, and notes are taken from original handwritten reel documentation and later identification while viewing the footage. Some details remain uncertain and are preserved as such.

Shared primarily as a family archive, and secondarily as a small window into mid-century American life.
