Q1. What is promoter and what is its function?
➡️ Promoter is a specific DNA sequence where RNA polymerase binds to initiate transcription.
It controls the start of gene expression.
Q2. Function of mRNA, tRNA, and rRNA:
mRNA: Carries genetic information from DNA to ribosome.
tRNA: Brings amino acids to ribosome for protein synthesis.
rRNA: Forms structural and functional part of ribosome.
Q3. Structure of DNA according to Watson and Crick model:
➡️ DNA is a double helix made up of two complementary strands running antiparallel. Each strand has nucleotides with sugar, phosphate, and nitrogen bases (A, T, G, C). A pairs with T and G pairs with C via hydrogen bonds.
Q4. Explain DNA replication with example and diagram:
➡️ DNA replication is semi-conservative — each daughter DNA molecule has one parental and one new strand.
The enzyme DNA polymerase helps in adding nucleotides.
Example: Replication of E. coli DNA.
