Dan and I had a mooch around Lytham St Anne's, about half-an-hour's drive from Blackpool on Lancashire's Fylde Coast. The town is popular with golfers and senior citizens alike and actually consists of 4 areas: Lytham, St Anne's-on-the-Sea, Ansdell and Fairhaven. From The Green, which is a strip of land running between the shore and the main coastal road, you can look out to the estuary of the River Ribble and the Welsh mountains. Clifton Street is named after the Clifton family, who were notable until the middle of the 20th century. Their seat was at Lytham Hall until its sale in 1963.
