The Lewis Road PRD project, formerly called "The Hills," is an 130-home development project proposed for the East Quogue Pine Barrens. In addition to the 130 mansions, the developer is also proposing a professional 18-hole golf course, a sewage treatment plant, a 66,000 square foot clubhouse with 52,000 square feet of underground parking, several maintenance facilities, pools and a water park, fitness center, poll house, ball fields, tennis courts, pickleball courts and more.
The Pine Barrens Society along with several other environmental and civic groups, has been fighting this project for more than seven years. However, this is the first time that the Commission has moved to review this project. This is the largest project to ever come before the Commission.
On February 19th, more than 100 community members filled the room to discuss their concerns about this project, before the members of the Commission. This show features some of those speakers.
