Mesa Boogie Mark V Diode Repair

Описание: One fine day, my Mesa Boogie Mark V decided to give up the ghost. With a bit of a whimper, it soon cut out completely, with no lights on the front and no sound. Interestingly, the power tubes appeared to still be glowing on the back of the amp. There was also the strong smell of electric component failure.

It turns out that Mesa has issued a technical bulletin regarding this issue, as the factory diodes appear to have been under-speced for their task in this amp. Join me as I deep dive into my amp and attempt this repair myself. I will quickly learn that there is more to this repair than just swapping diodes out!

I purchased 1N5392 diodes from Digi Key and they were amazing at getting these out to me within a couple of days at a great price.

I hope this video helps anyone out there dealing with a similar issue. I was crushed to suddenly lose my amp like this and was fearful I would have to go to an authorized repair center or ship it out to California.
