Severe thunderstorms developed suddenly after midnight on Friday morning as storms pushed westward out of Georgia. Several clusters of storms moved across eastern Alabama dropping heavy rain, deadly lightning, and damaging winds. These storms were seen across portions of Talladega County. Heavy rains and dangerous lightning occurred along the HWY-280 corridor near Sylacauga around 1am. More severe storms pushed from Oxford to Talladega in the northern portions of the county where intense lightning can be seen from the ground and drone footage. Storms should die down before dawn.
