Описание: Three reasons why you have trouble finishing paintings:

1. The initial excitement is gone - you passed the honeymoon stage and now it’s time to put in the work. Solution: if you can just push through, and fight that urge to stop, sooner or later you get back into the flow and break through into a new phase of excitement about your painting.

2. You had a weak start and it’s taking all of your energy to salvage the painting, or you have a design problem that needs solving. Solution: commit to detail work and “finishing” the painting only when you’re confident that you like your design. If that means starting over several times in order to get a composition you’re happy with, then do it. It’s worth it!

3. You’re picking over details on one area of the painting while ignoring the rest (I have this problem when I paint portraits. I get so fixated on capturing the likeness that sometimes I miss the big picture). Solution: step back and assess your painting as a whole. Default to working out the large masses and simple shapes FIRST, then move in to the smaller shapes and details later on.
