But one day, running became too tiring. She had to take a break. Down at the bridge outside of the kingdom, she leaned back against the railing, breathing out with fear. She needed to keep fleeing, she knew that. But at what point would she stop?

Then, she heard it. Footsteps from the side.She struggled to run, getting about a 4 feet before her legs failed her, slamming against the rock. She looked up to see someone not unlike herself, the same face, the same hair… But the only difference was the extremely pale, almost grey skin, pointed ears, and debonair-ish outfit. She let out a scream of terror and confusion, holding her head in her hands and covering her eyes almost as if to hide.

“Hello, my dear, it’s been a bit since we’ve last met… why do you hide? Do you hate what you see? I figured since you left, I might as well have a bit of fun with my new identity…”

“Wh-what?”

“Let’s just say that some blood is on your hands now… congratulations, you’re a murderer!”

“But- But I didn’t do that!”

“Are you sure? How do you know? How do you know YOU didn’t murder your parents as well? You’re quite the liar…”

She could feel him getting closer, bending down to look at her with an almost sadistic look in his eyes.

“This is your fault for leaving me, you know. All for your sake, I brought your parents back. I gave you a welcoming environment. I gave you comfort. And what do you do? You run from me. Ungrateful. Honestly, I would kill you but I quite like seeing you cower like this.”

“Wh-why are you doing this?”

“Because once, I had love. I had someone to love me who looked exactly like you, and you know what they did? They left me to rot. They cast me aside like last yesterday’s trash. Just like you did, Camellia.”

“Everything you gave me was a lie! You wouldn’t even let me see my parents! You wouldn’t let me leave!” She uncovered her eyes to meet his, a look of defiance flashing across her face.

“WISHES HAVE CONSEQUENCES! YOU COULDN’T DEAL WITH YOUR GRIEF, SO YOU CAME TO ME!” He snapped. “I should have just left you there where you were standing!”

“And I shouldn’t have accepted your deal!” She stood up. “Now that I think about it, it was odd that all of a sudden everyone hated us! It’s almost as if… you…”

She went quiet. He stared at her, caught off guard.

“You don’t know what you’re saying,” He said carefully.

“I know perfectly well what I’m saying. You caused this. You caused all of this.”
