12. Containers and File Formats - Digital Audio Fundamentals

Описание: A container is a wrapper which holds both the media stream in binary data, and also some extra information, called metadata, that describes what the media is, how it's stored, the compression used and anything else that's needed for applications that handle them. We'll explore containers and file formats through the scrutiny of the WAV file format. The aim of this video is to give you a graphical illustration of what a file format would hold and the motivations behind why they are designed the way they are. We'll also look at codecs, which are little decoding programs and explore their role within containers.
