Winging It Week 38 | INSECTS | Use Couching Techniques | Make a Needle Felted Bee

Описание: It's Winging It Week 38 and this week our prompt is INSECTS. We are going to use couching techniques and make a needle felted bee in our panel today.

We are continuing with our complementary colours - today I'm going to use purple and yellow. We will also be using a range of couching techniques to create our flowers.

I thought it might be nice to revisit needle felting too this week. This time, we are going to work in 3d to create our bee body. Please be careful if you are needle felting. ALWAYS WORK AWAY FROM YOUR FINGERS AND USE A FINGER GUARD IF YOU HAVE ONE!

Don't worry if you don't have needle felting equipment. You could use a large bead, a felt ball, wrap a bundle of fabric or thread, make a pompom, applique or use some of the stitches we have learnt so far to embroider your bee.

I had a bit of an issue with the sound when I recorded the video, so I have added a voiceover. I would be interested to know what you think of this approach. Do you prefer me chatting as I make, or a voiceover with the benefit of hindsight! Do let me know in the comments.

To stitch along, you will need:

10x10cm felt square with 1cm border marked on all sides
A selection of threads with different textures
Sequins or beads
Thick wool or string
Needles
Wool roving
Needle felting needle or mat
Scissors
Circle template or circles to draw around
Heat erase pen
