I've been trying to catch this engine leading with its somewhat "newer" horn for a while. P42DC #137 received a horn swap maybe a year ago or so? It had a nasty raised letter and was swapped for this much better sounding narrow font K5LA!
The improved horn swap peaked my interest, but to be honest it wasn't as good as I was anticipating...it's nice don't get me wrong, just feel like it sounded better when 137 first received this horn...also something is a little off with the horn like a small air leak, not mounted correctly? Who knows... In person it has a weird squeal especially when quilled, it had that squeal when it had the raised letter too.
Overall a decent K5LA for 2025...
Chased AMTK 137 down Cajon Pass during sunrise leading a 2 hour late Southwest Chief in September.
