Work in groups of 3:
Passer – stands a few metres from the post
Worker / Defender – marks the post, stays close
Player 1 – target for passes
1 ball per group
Passer passes the ball to Player 1.
Worker / Defender stays close to Player 1 and works around the body, using the outside arm to deflect the ball.
Focus on quick feet, balanced stance, and eyes on the ball.
Complete 10 passes.
Rotate players so everyone practices defending, passing, and post roles.
Progressions
Deflect and collect – Worker deflects the ball and gains control after each pass (10 passes).
3. Intercept – Worker attempts to intercept each pass (8–10 passes).
4. Movement & anticipation – Post player moves, and the defender anticipates the ball:
Worker can choose deflect, deflect & collect, or intercept
Rotate players through all roles.
