In this short video, I explain how to use the Vocalic R Chaining Activity to support children who can say an initial R sound but struggle with vocalic R (AR, ER, AIR, EAR, IRE, OR).
This activity uses a chaining approach, building from a strong initial R into harder vocalic R sounds using visual cues and faded support. It’s designed for preschool and early elementary students, including early or non-readers, and is meant to keep practice simple, supportive, and effective.
I hope this activity helps make practicing vocalic R feel more doable and encouraging for younger children who are struggling with the R sound.
