Making simple aircraft covers and tiedowns

I've got a couple of long trips planned for the Aeronca during the summer. I have a set of home made tiedowns (carver pickets) but am not sure how effective they are if the wind gets up. I decided to make and test some new ones, and make some simple poly-tarp covers for the engine and cockpit. Simple means cheap.
The rods were 8mm diameter, 1 metre long, sawn into two pieces. The galvanised tube came from a scrap trampoline frame. The blue rope is very strong, melt the ends to stop it fraying.
