Описание: Capillary forces act in soil mass on the boundary of saturated and partially saturated soil. It also depends on the soil type; the capillary rice can be up to 10 m in clay while only a few centimetres in sand. The capillary rise creates a capillary zone in soil mass that results in negative pore water pressure (also known as suction). This video explains how to estimate this negative pore water pressure and how it contributes to the effective stress in soil. This is part of geotechnical and civil engineering investigations to ensure soil stability. #civilengineering #geotechnicalengineering #soilmechanics
