Bacterial galls:
Galls are abnormal outgrowth on plants due to bacterial infection.
Causing agent
Agrobocterium tumefaciens.
Hosts
It occurs worldwide and attack over 600 plant species in more than 90 plant families.
Symptoms
In this disease, the bacterium causes rapid growth of plant cells which results in abnormal growth or crown gall on twigs and branches and roots.
Galls are mostly found on roots and tower branches near to ground. Gall size can vary from small to large. usually spongy when young but then become hard and woody with age.
