After finishing the Oodnandatta Track we decided to go for a trip up the Birdsville Track from the South Australian end. We camped for two nights at Clayton Station Wetlands camp, a great spot with flushing toilets, hot showers and a tank you can fill with water from the Artesian Basin for a hot soak. It’s only $20 (cash) in an honesty box per night. Check out our Corner Country Week 4 video, coming soon with more footage from that camp.
On Thursday 25 September 2025 we travelled to Cooper Creek about 80 kms from Clayton Station, to check out the flood waters. Cooper Creek follows into Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre which is normally dry but this year began following in July to the Lake. The reason this occurred was due to heavy rainfall in Queensland in late March 2025 which flowed into the Thomson, Wilson and Barcoo Rivers, which merged with Cooper Creek.
Enjoy the drone footage we took of this possibly, once in a lifetime event.
