We set off on the penultimate day of the An Turas Mor with the sun shining and in anticipation of a great days riding. We wouldn’t be disappointed!!

We continued riding up Glen Cassley, which must be one of the longest Glens, or at least it felt like it. Then it was up and over to Loch Shin. As we crested the pass between these two glens we were greeted to a stupendous view to the North.

A diversion to the Overscaig hotel for lunch turned out to be futile as it was closed down and the owners were moving out. Hopefully it will reopen in the future.

Some of the best riding of the entire trip greeted us after a quick meal by the side of the trail. Ben Hee, Strath More and Ben Hope are truly stunning. As we skirted the base of Ben Hope we eventually arrived at the ford crossing at Cashel Dhu.

This ford had been on our minds since the start of the trip as it can be difficult or impossible to navigate if the river is in spate. Luckily for us it wasn’t and we cleared that obstacle with no trouble.

** The ford needs to be crossed with care though. DON’T go straight over, make sure you cross to the little island then cross the second ford. It’s all in the official guide. **

We camped not far from the ford overlooking the wonderful Ben Hope. It was probably the best camp spot of the trip.

All in all another fantastic day on the trail. In the morning we would find out whether or not the notorious gate on the Cashel Dhu estate would be unlocked or not...........
