Bringing light back to Darliston, Westmoreland.
Today we delivered a solar generator and battery pack to Lisa and Lexi, families who received container homes after Hurricane Melissa. While there is still no electricity or running water in the community, your donations made it possible for these families to have light again.
We are so grateful and excited to share this update with you.
The work is not finished.
We are currently seeking additional support through our GoFundMe to assist St. John’s Infant School. The principal is doing everything she can, rotating the 50 students she has been able to locate, while many other families remain displaced.
One of the school’s students was blown away during the hurricane along with his brother and has only just been released from the hospital. As a community, we do not want these children returning to school carrying unresolved trauma, even though their surroundings are a daily reminder of Hurricane Melissa.
