In this "How to play in DADGAD" lesson, I teach you what I call the outside "DADGAD skeleton scale".

It's the D major scale up the guitar neck with the addition of an interval of a third. This Celtic sounding scale is a great one to build upon for accompanying Irish music.

Once this is learned on the outside D & G strings, you can play the same shapes with all the strings opened up to release that big open DADGAD sound. You can then add any rhythm you want to this pattern and jump around the fretboard. It's a great way to get creative and I've come up with a lot of melodies and chord sequences this way.

We will build upon this Celtic D Major scale for Irish music in future lessons.
