...Source: Transcript: Per InsideEVs, a small, lightweight electric sports car out of China is gearing up for a limited release in Europe this year. The SC01 roadster, developed by Tianjin Gongjiangpai Auto Technology and backed by tech giant Xiaomi, features a dual-motor setup delivering 430 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 62 miles per hour in just 2.9 seconds. What really sets it apart, though, is its weight — under 3,100 pounds — making it significantly lighter than a Porsche 911.
The SC01’s powertrain can switch between all-wheel, rear-wheel, or front-wheel drive, giving drivers some flexibility depending on road and weather conditions. It runs on a 60-kilowatt-hour battery with an estimated range of 310 miles and can fast charge from 30% to 60% in just over half an hour.
European production will take place in Italy, and the model will be limited to just 1,000 units in select markets. While the official price for Europe hasn’t been announced, its Chinese version starts at around $32,000 — making it one of the most affordable electric sports cars available. Unfortunately, there's no word yet on availability in North America.
