When Beer Meets Whiskey! || Two Stacks “Stacked” Whiskey and Beer REVIEW

This fun little collaboration is the “Stacked” whiskey and beer pairing from Two Stacks Irish whiskey and DOT Brew. It’s essentially an imperial stout which was finished in a Two Stacks whiskey barrel and a Whiskey which was finished in a DOT Brew stout barrel!

The whiskey is the same as Two Stacks’ Double Barrel Single Malt, so a bourbon aged single malt, finished in Sherry Casks before being given an extra finishing in the DOT Brew stout cask. It comes in at 43% ABV, and is natural character.

The beer is DOT Brew’s Imperial Stout, which was finished in an ex-whiskey barrel for some extra richness. It comes in at 7.5% ABV.

So, let’s dive right in and taste these two interesting drinks!

Two Stacks “Stacked” Whiskey Tasting Notes
Nose:
Rich and malty, with a touch of peat smoke and vanilla, but with a really rich coffee and dark chocolate notes from the stout finishing

Palate:
The stout cask influence is immediately apparent, with more coffee and dark chocolate, along with vanilla and winter berries. When tried with the stout though, it's much more cohesive with the slightly bitter notes in the stout balancing out against the sweet and earthy profile of the whiskey

Overall, this is a nice little whiskey, which I think was made much better if you have the stout side by side, as when put together, the flavours are much more cohesive and feel more balanced.
