Maple Cat Enjoys his Stroller

As you know from our Instagram stories, Maple loves outside in his stroller. It's something we have been training him to do at 5 months old. He is harness trained because our community has lots of cars and wildlife (like coyotes), so Maple only goes outside with supervision.

As an indoor cat, Maple has to acclimate to outdoor sounds like chatter, sudden movements, and cars. Sometimes unfamiliar scenarios can be intimidating, but with patience, training, and love, trust can be developed. The key is consistent training and gradually increasing the time outside. Positive reinforcement through treats and petting can aid with associating outdoor time with fun.

Not every cat enjoys going outside though- Maple's sisters Lily and Dahlia are rescued cats that we got as adults. When personality and habits form, it makes it more challenging to overcome them. It's not impossible though, but we've realized the girls are much happier indoors while Maple actively enjoys being in his stroller.

If you're looking to enjoy the outdoors with your kitty, we recommend starting with basic harness training at home. Start by associating the harness with treats, and then gradually wearing it for longer durations.
