Описание: About the Fugata Quintet:

The Fugata Quintet was born out of a shared passion for the music of Astor Piazzolla and a desire to champion his name as a great composer of the 20th century. Drawing upon backgrounds in classical, jazz and world music, they bring dazzling technique and a distinguished, expressive sound to the Nuevo Tango style, and are now building on this rich tradition with contemporary works specially commissioned for the group.

All outstanding musicians in their own right, Zivorad Nikolic (accordion), Anastasios Mavroudis (violin), Antonis Hatzinikolaou (guitar), Anahit Chaushyan (piano) and James Opstad (double bass) combine their musical personalities to create an enormous range of possibilities for expression. Inspired by Piazzolla's pioneering work, they are expanding the repertoire for this unique instrumentation.

Formed in 2007 by graduates of the Royal Academy of Music in London, the Fugata Quintet has performed arrangements of compositions across a broad range of musical styles, from Bach to modern commissions, and has played all of Piazzolla's published works for quintet at classical and jazz venues throughout the UK, including the Royal Albert Hall, Cheltenham Town Hall, Corn Exchange Newbury, Blackthorpe Barn, Kings Place in London, and the Southbank Centre's Purcell Room.

In Athens they directed a fully staged production of Piazzolla's and Horacio Ferrer's operita Maria de Buenos Aires, starring an international cast. In 2013, in the first of a series of commissions, they premiered Michael Csanyi-Wills's L'Annunziata suite in the Royal Albert Hall's Elgar Room. The Quintet has performed live on BBC Radio 3′s In Tune and has released an acclaimed double album of Piazzolla's music.
