The match between Australia’s Alex de Minaur and American Frances Tiafoe Jr was paused for approximately eight minutes while medical staff attended to the situation in the crowd. At the time of the interruption, de Minaur was leading 6-3, 6-4, 2-0 when play was stopped. During the delay, a TNT Sports commentator informed viewers that a fan appeared to be unwell high up in the seating area and that medical assistance was on the way. The chair umpire was also heard reassuring Tiafoe that play would resume once it was confirmed the individual was safe. Commentators later confirmed that medics had reached the person involved. The match resumed shortly afterward, with Tiafoe winning the next game to reduce the deficit to 2-1 in the third set.
