Описание: Standing on a mountaintop with Jesus, three disciples witnessed something almost beyond description—the glory of God radiating from Christ himself, his face shining like the sun, his clothes brilliant with light. The light wasn't reflecting off him from somewhere else, but shining from him, a glorious light revealing who Jesus truly is: the eternal Son of God. In Matthew 17, we encounter the Transfiguration, a moment when God pulled back the veil so the disciples and we can see Jesus' identity; And then Moses and Elijah appeared! All the Law and the Prophets, pointed, sang and prophesied about this Christ and about the work he would do of redeeming--through his cross. When Peter offered to build shelters, God the Father interrupted with a gospel-filled command that echoes through the centuries to us today: "This is my son, with whom I am well pleased. Listen to him." This isn't just about hearing words; it's about active listening. The Word that we hear about Jesus changes how we see Jesus and how we follow him, as it gives faith and calls us to live in faith. The disciples were terrified, face-down on the ground. Apart from Christ we would be the same, but Jesus spoke the words we all desperately need: 'Get up. Don't be afraid.' His word has the power to do what it says—to drive fear from our hearts and lift us to our feet. We learn that following Jesus is more about listening than seeing. It's about faith. The glory wasn't meant to stay on the mountain, there was still work to do. Jesus came down to go to another mountain—Calvary—where he completed the work of our salvation. // Sunday Sermon from February 15, 2026 on Matthew 17:1-9.
