December 20, 2011: Mike Knuble becomes the sixth player to play his 1,000th career NHL game while with the Capitals and the first to do so since 2006. Current Capitals head coach Dale Hunter was the first player to play his milestone 1,000th NHL game in a Capitals uniform, doing so in 1993. Joining Knuble and Hunter on the list is Phil Housley (1996), Adam Oates (1999), Calle Johansson (2001) and Andrew Cassels (2006).
All Capitals players wore commemorative "Knuble" jerseys during the pregame warm-up, featuring number "22" on the back, which were auctioned off during the game.
