WebAssembly (Wasm) co-creator Luke Wagner joins Tetrate's Anthony Jones, who formerly managed the Wasm team at Mozilla, to talk about the history and basics of Wasm.
Wasm is is a binary instruction format for a stack-based virtual machine-- or essentially, a versatile, small-footprint "box you can run code in."
In this "Ask Me Anything" session, Jones opens with a presentation on the history of WebAssembly, and explains why the Envoy proxy community is excited to use it for extensions: easier deployments, better sandboxing, and greater choice for programming language.
In the Q&A, Jones and Wagner describe other use cases for Wasm, how it's been used, what features are available in a Wasm virtual machine, how you can get started with Wasm, and more.
The session is moderated by Tia Louden and hosted by Tetrate, the enterprise service mesh company.
