The Cypriot Cup is the main national football cup competition in Cyprus, first held in the 1934–35 season, the same year the Cyprus Football Association (CFA) was established. The inaugural champions were Enosis Neon Trust, who defeated APOEL in a replayed final. Over the years, the tournament has faced a few interruptions—during World War II (1941–1944), and later during periods of political unrest in the 1950s and early 1960s, as Cyprus moved toward independence. Despite these disruptions, the competition has remained a central part of Cypriot football. One notable cancellation occurred in the 2019–20 season, when the tournament was called off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
APOEL is the most successful club in Cypriot Cup history, winning the trophy a record 21 times as of the 2024–25 season. Other major winners include Omonia, Anorthosis Famagusta, and AEL Limassol. In its current format, the tournament mainly includes clubs from the First and Second Divisions, with lower-division sides no longer participating since the 2008–09 season. The 2024–25 edition, which marked the 83rd time the cup was held, featured 27 teams. AEK Larnaca claimed the title that year, beating Pafos FC in the final, continuing the cup's tradition of dramatic and competitive football.
