Описание: Vanderbilt University Blair School of Music presents its production of the epic Benjamin Britten choral work, War Requiem, recorded April 14 and 15 at Martha Rivers Ingram Hall. Conducted by Robin Fountain, and featuring guest alumna soprano Lauren Urquhart, faculty tenor Tyler Nelson, and baritone Dashon Burton, this once-in-a-lifetime performance event brought together the combined forces of the Blair School of Music in glorious harmony.

This premiere is presented in partnership with Nashville Public Radio, WPLN, and Nashville Classical Radio.

About War Requiem:
During the Battle of Britain German bombs pulverized the 13th Century Coventry Cathedral in an infamous raid code-named Operation Moonlight Sonata. Fearing the loss of national morale Great Britain immediately resolved to have the cathedral rebuilt, eventually commissioning Benjamin Britten to compose a work for its consecration. The resultant work is a monumental undertaking, dividing the ensembles into three distinct but overlapping groups: full orchestra, chorus and soprano soloist for the Latin texts; a chamber ensemble with tenor and baritone soloists for Owen's verses; and a distant children's choir.
