What's up readers! It's Mr. Corder. Today we are going to practice reading nonsense words for Kindergarten, first grade, second grade and beyond (NWF).

Reading nonsense words (or nonsense word fluency as described in Dibels mClass) is a foundational skill for students to learn how to read. They cannot just guess the word based on a picture, because all of the nonsense words are not real (silly words as we call them in class!) Having a strong hold on reading nonsense words will help students as they progress to higher grades as the words they have to sound out get more complex!
