1. Open Disk Management:

Press Windows + R to open Run.

Type diskmgmt.msc and hit Enter.

This opens Disk Management.


2. Shrink Existing Volume (if needed):

Find an existing disk/partition with free space.

Right-click it and choose Shrink Volume.

Enter how much space you want to shrink (this will become your new partition).


3. Create a New Partition:

After shrinking, you’ll see Unallocated Space.

Right-click the unallocated space → New Simple Volume.

Follow the wizard:

Assign drive letter (example: S:)

Format it with NTFS and give it a label (like "System").



4. Set it as Active Partition (if needed):

If you're setting up a boot/system partition, you must mark it active:

Right-click the new partition.

Select Mark Partition as Active.
