Today I am going solo at 2am in East Java, to summit Indonesia’s most acidic, sulfiuric, volcanic lake.. Kawah Ijen - One of the only places in the world you can witness volcanic blue flames burning naturally from sulfuric gas and a place where sulfur miners carry 90kg baskets of sulfur for $10 per day. I was looking forward to this during my whole trip and it did not disappoint! The views from the top were incredible and although I didnt get to see the blue fire, it was a privelage to get to speak to some of the miners down in the base of the crater. 😌
