According to legend, in 1840, a cowherd named Bholaram had a dream about three divine idols buried underground in the Chappar area of Bagund village. When this place was excavated, three magnificent idols of Lord Krishna were found as depicted in the dream. One idol was installed in Mandapia, another in Bhadsoda and the third one was installed in the place where the idols were found in Chappar in Bagund.
Of the three temples, the one at Mandfia is designated as the main shrine known as Shri Sawariyaji Dham. It is a major pilgrimage site for devotees from Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. The beauty and power of this temple attracts thousands of pilgrims every year.
Shri Sawariya Ji Temple is 41 km from Chittorgarh Railway Station and 65 km from Udaipur Dabok Airport.
