We redesigned the Green Valley Wildlife buffet with brand new feeders today… and suddenly the forest went quiet.
That actually happens more often than people think. Wildlife memorize feeding locations very precisely, and when something changes — even new feeders in the same spot — animals often pause and observe from the woods before approaching again.
Typical adjustment times:
• Birds: a few hours to about a day
• Squirrels: 1–2 days
• Deer: a few days
Right now you're hearing the natural soundscape of the forest instead: wind through the trees, distant birds, and the quiet creek nearby.
Usually it only takes one brave visitor to restart the buffet traffic. Once the first squirrel, chickadee, or blue jay returns, the rest quickly follow.
Around here that might be:
🐿 Hans or Greta (gray squirrels)
🐿 Ginger or Red (red squirrels)
🐦 Jay or Bonnie (blue jays)
🐦 Dee the chickadee
🦌 Deer Dan, Darla, or Spike
Tonight the animals will likely investigate the new setup and leave scent trails. Tomorrow morning the buffet should start filling up again.
