Protecting fruit trees from deer is important. They especially like fruit trees and will eat the buds and branches off any part of the tree that they can reach. The bark is sweet to the taste and is therefore really attractive to bucks and does and fawns.

I protect my apple trees from deer in a few different ways and use apple tree plantings as one of my habitat improvement projects.

Whether you have an apple orchard, just a few apple trees or some other fruit trees or mast producing trees, you want to keep them safe from deer until they have a chance to grow for a few years and really establish themselves.

Bucks will rub the bark off of your fruit trees and kill them if you don't protect them when they're young.
