Practicing conversational Morse code on-the-air can be used to develop the ability to “head copy” -- i.e. to understand Morse by ear without writing it down -- which is very helpful for long-format informal CW communication.
Talking with other ham radio operators using CW in ragchew and roundtable QSOs (radio contacts) is likely one of the most effective ways to learn and improve "head copy". Engaging in back-and-forth Morse exchanges mimics natural conversation and can accelerate auditory recognition of words and phrases — just like fluent speech.

73, and as OM Joe told us: "Keep talking with your fingers!"
