Day 35 - 7th October - Sarria to Portomarin- 22.5km
Gosh what a difference a day makes - a couple of thousand more pilgrims. It’s hard not to be moved by the enthusiasm of the pilgrims who are walking for the first time today.
I started a little later in order to avoid the rush - but it was still very busy with big queues at all of the cafes. I had to keep reminding myself to collect the extra stamps in my pilgrims credential - something that I have not been particularly focused on.
Even after a days rest, my body is still displeased with the continued demands I am making on it. I swear that my toes scowled at me this morning as I carefully slathered them in Vaseline… and that cheeky wee one said… “oh no, she’s making us walk another half marathon today”.
