Marina Kremyanskaya, MD, PhD, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York, NY, comments on the evolving treatment landscape for patients with polycythemia vera. Dr Kremyanskaya notes that current therapies, such as hydroxyurea, interferon, and ruxolitinib, are effective at controlling blood counts and improving patient symptoms. However, she highlights that there is a need for disease-modifying therapies and options that improve patient's quality of life by reducing the need for frequent phlebotomies. This interview took place at the 66th ASH Annual Meeting and Exposition, held in San Diego, CA.
