Four people died after a strong wave erupted in the natural pool of Isla Cangrejo in Tenerife. Several men were injured and authorities are still searching for a missing person. Local media said the victims, including tourists, ignored previous warnings from authorities about extreme waves on the coast.
The tragic incident occurred around 4 p.m. on Sunday in the municipality of Santiago del Teide, in the west of the island. According to local media, the wave violently stormed the natural pool of Crab Island, kidnapping people there. Among the victims are a 55-year-old woman, a 35-year-old man and another man whose age has not been revealed. Media reports say some of those affected were swept into the ocean as a result of the sudden impact of the wave.
