The second fantasy (marked “Lively, light”) in Schumann’s Fantasiestücke, Op. 73 is today’s video masterclass topic. In this movement, Schumann’s dreamy mood emerges and I will demonstrate alternate strings and fingerings to create different colors, how to play long lines (even when there are a lot of notes), and point out the most important places to listen and react to the piano to achieve a flowing conversation.
