Mounds State Park is amazing! In this presentation of Amazing Indiana we will visit Mounds State Park near Anderson, Indiana. This state park contains Indian Mounds that were built by the Hopewell People over two thousand years ago. We will explore the mounds and see just what a building feat they would have been for the Native American people who lived in this part of Indiana.
The park has numerous hiking trails, some of which run along the White River.
The park was the site of an old amusement park, known as, Mounds Park. The park closed in 1929. There are some scattered remnants of the park.
The park is a great place to see birds and other wildlife.
Mounds is an easy drive from both Fort Wayne and Indianapolis. It's all part of Amazing Indiana.
