Vancouver Island is one of Canada’s most breathtaking destinations, filled with hidden gems far from the usual tourist routes. On this trip, we explored the northern part of the island, discovering rugged coastlines, untouched forests, and incredible wildlife encounters.
These are the places we visited:
✨ Port Hardy – A small coastal town at the northern tip of Vancouver Island, known for its wild beauty, rich Indigenous culture, and access to remote wilderness. San Josef Bay is about a two-hour drive from Port Hardy, and the trip is well worth it.
✨ Telegraph Cove – A picturesque fishing village famous for its colourful boardwalk, whale-watching tours, and grizzly bear excursions.
✨ Strathcona Provincial Park – The oldest provincial park in British Columbia, offering dramatic mountain peaks, alpine lakes, and endless hiking opportunities. There are two main campgrounds around Buttle Lake, and there are many spots you can camp at; however, it's recommended to make a reservation beforehand on the BC Parks website.
