"This Shifa hospital lacks everything. Shifa hospital has been drained for a long time. They do not have spare parts for the medical equipment. STORYLINE:
As the number of Gazan casualties keeps rising in Israel's ongoing offensive in Gaza, two Norwegian doctors have been working at the al-Shifa hospital in Gaza city.
Doctor Mads Gilbert arrived in Gaza on New Year's eve and went straight to the hospital with his friend, another doctor Erik Fosse, where they have been ever since.
As the situation has deteriorated, medical staff have been under greater pressures, not only with more wounded arriving at the hospital but also due to the lack of equipment.
"This Shifa hospital lacks everything," Gilbert said. "They do not have enough beds, they do not have trolleys or oxygen masks."
And as the offensive continues the situation for patients and medical staff can only get worse.
Israel has faced increasing criticism over civilian casualties and suffering during its Gaza offensive.
About 300 of the more than 670 Palestinians killed so far are civilians, according to Palestinian and U.N. figures.
Of those killed, at least 130 are children age 16 and under, says the Gaza-based Palestinian Center for Human Rights, which tracks casualties.
Israel launched its assault on December 27 in an attempt to end rocket fire from the territory.
