Is the Chieftain’s Vest Traditional Highland Dress Now?

Описание: Should the Chieftain Vest Be Considered Traditional?
As far as we can tel, the chieftain’s vest was invented sometime in the mid-20th century. And we really don’t know exactly why. That said, it has become a mainstay of some festival outfits and casual/romantic theme weddings. But how long does a garment have to be in use before it becomes accepted as traditional? Especially in the sense of being considered part of a National Dress? Are the chieftain;s vest and the ghillie shirt now de-facto traditional? Or will they always be resigned to the costume tier?
