In this video:
February 17, 2026 brings a rare annular solar eclipse, also known as the “ring of fire.”
The Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, but it doesn’t cover the Sun completely — leaving a glowing circle around the dark lunar disk.
This eclipse reaches full annularity over Antarctica, while a partial eclipse becomes visible across southern South America and parts of southern Africa.
Best viewing occurs during local daytime, when the Moon hides most of the Sun and the ring becomes sharp and bright.
